Annual Leadership Conference, Iceland

Reykjavik, Iceland 2024

Keynote: Future of Work

In 2024, Dr Kate Barker delivered the headline keynote at the Iceland HR Leadership Conference in Reykjavik, one of Northern Europe’s most influential gatherings for people leaders and policymakers. The event reached more than 15,000 delegates across 11 Nordic and EU + EEA countries, both in person and via global livestream.

Her keynote, “Future of Work,” explored how organisations can reimagine leadership, capability design, and performance strategy in a world defined by automation, adaptability, and human-systems intelligence. She introduced a framework for leading in the post-AI era, where foresight and trust become core performance levers.

Dr Barker examined how technology, behavioural science, and ethics are reshaping the boundaries between humans and machines—and what this means for designing future-ready organisations. The session drew standing-room attendance and was later profiled in Nordic HR Review as one of the region’s defining leadership conversations of 2024.

The keynote reframed leadership for a post-linear world, positioning human intelligence as the strategic edge in an era of algorithms.
